Dosemate ("we," "our," or "us") is a free Android application that helps users manage and track their medication schedules. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the Dosemate app.
✅ Your core health data — medications, schedules, and dose logs — is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to our servers.
By downloading and using Dosemate, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the application.
Information We Collect
Dosemate is designed to minimize data collection. Here is a complete breakdown:
Stored on your device only (never transmitted):
- Medication names, dosages, and schedules you enter
- Dose history (taken, missed, and skipped entries)
- Notification preferences and reminder times
- Family profile names (if you use multi-profile features)
- App settings and preferences
Automatically collected for app operations:
- Device type and Android OS version (crash diagnostics only)
- App version and anonymized session crash logs
- Non-identifiable usage events (e.g., "reminder created")
ℹ️ We do not collect your name, email, phone number, precise location, or any personally identifiable health information unless you voluntarily provide it when contacting support.
Advertising & Ad Data
Dosemate is free and supported by advertising provided through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, AdMob may collect the following:
What AdMob may collect:
- Advertising ID — a resettable, anonymous identifier on your device
- IP address — used to infer your general region for ad targeting
- Device information — model, OS version, screen resolution
- Ad interaction data — impressions and clicks
- General app usage context for ad relevance
Our ad commitments:
- Ads are served by Google LLC under Google's Privacy Policy
- We never share your medication or health data with any advertiser
- Personalized ads may appear based on interests tracked by Google across their services
- You can opt out at any time: Google Settings → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization
ℹ️ Google AdMob operates independently under Google's own privacy terms. We have no access to the data AdMob collects for advertising purposes.
To reset or limit ad tracking on Android:
- Settings → Google → Ads → Reset Advertising ID or opt out of personalization
- Manage ad preferences at adssettings.google.com
How We Use Data
We use the limited information we collect strictly for the following purposes:
- Delivering core app functionality — reminders, scheduling, dose tracking
- Diagnosing and resolving crashes and technical issues
- Improving app performance and user experience
- Displaying advertisements to keep the app free
- Complying with applicable legal obligations
We do not use your data for profiling, sell it to data brokers, or share it for any marketing purpose.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Limited data is shared only in these specific circumstances:
- Google AdMob — for displaying in-app advertisements (see Advertising section)
- Crash analytics providers — anonymous, non-identifiable crash reports only
- Legal requirements — if compelled by law or a valid legal process
- Business transfer — in a merger or acquisition, under the same privacy commitments
✅ Your medication and health data is never shared with any third party under any circumstances.
Storage & Retention
All health-related data is stored exclusively in your device's secure internal storage.
- Data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app
- No health data is backed up or transmitted to any external server
- Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data permanently
- Anonymized crash logs are retained for up to 90 days for debugging, then deleted
Children's Privacy
Dosemate is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If a parent or guardian believes their child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete that information promptly.
The family profiles feature is intended to be managed by adults on behalf of family members.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — Request a copy of data we hold about you
- Deletion — Request erasure of your personal data
- Correction — Request correction of inaccurate information
- Opt-out — Opt out of personalized advertising at any time
- Portability — Request your data in a portable, machine-readable format
Since most data is stored locally on your device, you can exercise direct control by clearing app data in Android Settings or uninstalling. For other requests, contact us below.
Security
We take data security seriously. Dosemate implements the following measures:
- Android's secure internal storage for all health and preference data
- No transmission of health data over the internet — ever
- TLS encryption for all network requests (e.g., ad serving)
- Regular security reviews of all third-party SDKs we include
While we maintain strong safeguards, no storage or transmission method is 100% secure. We recommend keeping your device OS and apps up to date.
Policy Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes we will:
- Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
- Notify users via an in-app message for any material changes
- Keep the previous version available on request
Continued use of Dosemate after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
